Ramadan is a busy time for Shahul Hameed and his wife Jasmine who runs Travancore Foods near Manakkad Central Juma Masjid. There is seldom a time when the flames are extinguished in the kitchen. And yummy treats like meat bonda, banana cutlet, Kozhi ada, dates fry, meat pathiri, vegetable pathiri, chicken pakoda, onion pakoda, chicken roll, different kinds of samosas, sweet parotta, dates, chappathi, are some of the exquisite dishes are prepared here from the wee hours of the morning.

Needless to say, the place is always crowded. Shahul Hameed started off as a hotel worker after basic education. Later he developed a longing to launch something of his own. He started off with a single item in a small outlet adjacent to his house at Karakkamandapam. As it found success, he took in workers and extended into several items like pathiri, oratti, chappathi etc. For the past few years his Travancore Foods supplies to public functions and family gatherings at Thiruvanathapuram and nearby areas.

Shahul Hameed and Jasmine say they use the best raw material available in the market. However, they would not share the secret formula that makes their food so delicious.
