19,503 students to write SSLC exam in Kottayam

Kottayam: Class ten students who have registered for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) in the state are all set to march to the exam halls on 31 March for their board exam. Around 19,503 students will be writing the exam in Kottayam district. 9935 boys have registered for the exam while 9568 girls would be reaching the exam halls. Around 1400 teachers have been appointed for exam duty in 253 centers in the district. Deputy director of General Education N Sujaya said that the preparations are on the final stage as they have started in earnest anticipating the two-day nation – wide strike.

As the exam begins in the morning on 31 March, the duties of the teachers would be scheduled tomorrow evening. A meeting of the teachers too has been convened. The invigilators to each center have already been appointed.

Arrangements to ensure extra time for students with disabilities and assigning scribes too have been completed. 239 students with disabilities and 123 students with learning difficulties have registered for the exam in the district.

The students would be admitted into the exam halls after checking their body temperatures. Those who have high temperature would be shifted to a separate class room to write the exam. The answer sheets of such students and those who have tested positive for COVID-19 would be secured in separate plastic covers before sending them for evaluation.

The questions papers have been categorized and secured in four undisclosed centers under heavy police security. The categorization of the question papers was completed on Saturday. The question papers, however, would be moved to the respective treasuries and banks tomorrow morning due to the two – day nation wide strike. It would then be transported to the exam centers on the day of the exams.

Meanwhile, the plus two exams have been scheduled from 30 March to 26 April. Around 21,331 students will be writing the plus two exam in 133 centers. The plus two practical exam would begin on 3 May.

Kottayam Regional Deputy Director S Usha said that the plus one exam would be held in June.

Changanassery SBHSS would have the credit for admitting the most number of students for SSLC exam in the district while the least number of students have been registered at Ettumanoor Mangalam EMHSS and Kanjirapally Government Higher Secondary School.
