The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) has invited applications for admissions to PG, integrated PhD and regular PhD programmes starting in August. The website of IISER TVM is www.iisertvm.ac.in and the last date to apply differs for each programme.
MSc courses
The last date to submit applications for MSc is April 30 and the subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, each having 20 seats. To apply, login to http://appserv.iisertvm.ac.in/msc. The fee is Rs 1,000. For Scheduled categories, the amount is Rs 500.
Eligibility to apply is a bachelor degree with at least 60% marks in Science / Engineering / Maths / related subject. For Scheduled categories, the cut-off is 50%. A grade point average of 6.5/10 and 5.5/10 respectively is also accepted. Students currently taking their final degree exams can apply.
Admissions will be based on an online test on May 13, followed by an interview during June 10-20. Syllabus of the test is given on the website.
Integrated PhD
April 21 is the last date to apply for these programmes in Biological / Chemical / Mathematical / Physical Sciences. Website: http://appserv.iisertvm.ac.in/iphd/index.php/applicant/register/6. There is a processing fee of Rs 500. But applicants belonging to Scheduled categories are exempted from payment of this fee.
Eligibility is a bachelor degree in the related subject with a minimum of 55% marks. For Scheduled and differently-abled candidates, the cut-off is 50%. A grade point average of 6.0/10 and 5.5/10 will also be considered.
Students taking their final degree exams can apply.
In addition, applicants should have obtained the necessary test qualifications for each subject as follows:
• Biological: Related JAM 2023 / JGEEBILS 2023.
• Chemical: JAM 2023 + one round interview / If the applicant has not obtained JAM, he or she should clear the online test + two rounds of interview.
• Mathematical: Related JAM 2023 or NABHM 2023 and qualified for interview.
• Physical: Related JAM 2023 or JEST 2023.
For all the four streams, applicants have to face interviews.
PhD
For the Regular PhD programmes at IISER TVM, applications could be submitted till April 19. The streams are Biological / Chemical / Mathematical / Physical Sciences. Website: http://appserv.iisertvm.ac.in./phd/index.php/applicant/register/11
Candidates who completed their post-graduation with a first class or grade point average of 6.5/10 can apply. Certain specializations in Physics and BTech also will be considered for admissions. In addition, applicants should have cleared CSIR-UGC / UGC-NET JRF / GATE or equivalent national test.
