Chennai: Vikram-starrer Tamil action-thriller Iru Mugan, which released in cinemas worldwide on Thursday, grossed around Rs 10 crore on its first two days in Tamil Nadu.
According to producer Shibu Thameens, the film has registered the second best opening for Vikram after last year's I.
In an official statement from the producer, it was said that Iru Mugan grossed approximately Rs. 10 crore from two days in Tamil Nadu.
However, the Kerala box ofice report sings a different tune. Iru Mugan was one of the Onam releases lined up in the state and according to initial box office reports, it grossed approximately Rs 96 lakhs. Considering the film opened in 120 screens, reports state that it isn't a great opening.
Directed by Anand Shankar, Iru Mugan stars Vikram in a dual role – a secret agent and an eccentric scientist.
The film also stars Nayanthara and Nithya Menen in the lead, apart from a host of supporting actors.
