From Kareena Kapoor, to Tamanna, to Bhavana, some of the greatest blockbusters were turned down by the actors they were first offered to. Recently, a similar story came into being in Mollywood too. When Pathemari-fame Jewel Mary was approached for Jayaram-starrer horror comedy Aadupuliyattam, the actress rejected the role, citing script problems.
But much to Jewel's wonder, the movie went on to become a runaway hit among the masses and is still playing to packed audiences. Now comes the interesting tidbit: the producers of the movie Haseeb Haneef and Naushad Alathoor, who are gearing up for the movie's 50th day celebrations, have extended a 'special invitation' to Jewel Mary - as the chief guest of the movie's success bash. Now, that's what we call sweet revenge.
Haseeb and Naushad posted the invitation on their Facebook page and said the movie, which was rejected by Jewel, has been widely accepted by Kerala audience.
Earlier, the producers had said that Jewel backed off from the project because she didn't want to play opposite actor Jayaram. However, Jewel told Onmanorama that she didn't commit to the project as she was not satisfied with the film's script.
Haseeb and Naushad strongly responded to Jewel's comment then and said, "Due to Jewel's poor performance in our film 'Utopiayile Rajavu', it didn't do well at the box office and we faced some financial issues. However, she expressed her interest in Aadupuliyattam without even hearing its script. But after she asked if the film has a new generation hero, we removed her from the cast."
