M for Mohanlal, Mollywood and money - this seems to be the box office success mantra the Malayalam movie industry has been relying on for long. Mohanlal has now cemented this, delivering a blockbuster with his latest action flick Pulimurugan.
The movie has now become the first Malayalam movie to enter the Rs 100-crore club.
The actor's 2013 hit Drishyam had raked in Rs 67 crore, while his recent hit Oppam made Rs 33 crore. Back in 2000, his bumper hit Narasimham made Rs 22 crore in the box office.
Pulimurugan, which was made on a budget of Rs 25 crore, earned Rs 100 crore within a month of its release.
The movie - that collected Rs 10 crore within a week of its release - had a tremendous opening in UAE, where it broke the records set by Rajinikanth's Kabali and Salman Khan's Sultan to become the first Indian movie to have the highest number of shows.
Mohanlal shared the happy news on Facebook and thanked the entire crew, audience and almighty.
Pulimurugan, directed by Vysakh and produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam, had hit the screens on October 7.
