Kottayam: Malayalam playback singer Gayatri Asokan got married to Bengali sitar player and music composer Purbayan Chatterjee in a traditional Kerala wedding at Paramekkavu Bhagavathy temple in Thrissur.
Chatterjee, who hails from Kolkata is a recipient of President of India Award for the best instrumentalist at the age of 15. The love for music has finally united both the artists at a function attended by very close friends and family.
Gayatri, who is famous for her talent in Hindustani songs and ghazals, has won Kerala State Film Awards for Best Singer in 2003. Chatterjee has done quite a number of performances in India as well as abroad including Queen Elizabeth Hall and Opera House performances.

The couple have performed together at various events. According to reports, this was a love marriage.
This is a second marriage for both the artists.
