Noted singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, who was engaged to Santhosh, has called off her wedding on Saturday.
Announcing the break-up through a press meet, Vijayalakshmi said that Santhosh had put forward certain conditions asking her to stop musical programs after the marriage. He had asked her to pursue a career as a teacher in a school, Vijayalakshmi said.
Vijayalakshmi's marriage with Santhosh, a Thrissur native, was fixed on March 29.
Santhosh who had earlier said to have agreed to live in Vijayalakshmi's house changed his stand and demanded that they should be living in the house of his relative, Vijayalakshmi said.
Vijayalaksmi's father V. Muralidharan also said that Santhosh had earlier agreed to live in their house but later changed his mind.
The marriage alliance was sought and culminated in engagement through a matrimonial ad, Vijayalakshmi said at the press meet and added that she was not forced by anyone to backtrack from the proposed wedlock and that the decision was her own.
