Noted singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi is getting married. She is entering into the wedlock with Santhosh, a musician hailing from Puthiyangadi, Kozhikode.
The engagement will be held on December 13 and the wedding is fixed on March 29 next year.
Vijayalakshmi, a visually challenged prodigy, is known for her unique voice and for beating all odds by sheer talent. She entered filmdom as a playback singer through the movie Celluloid, directed by Kamal.
Her first song 'Katte Katte' in the film released in 2013 had won the special mention of the jury at the Kerala State Film Awards.
The next year, she won the state award for the best singer for her rendition 'Ottakku Padunna Poonkuyile' in Nadan, also directed by Kamal.
Vijayalakshmi has sung in over thirty films across various languages so far, including director Rajamouli's magnum opus, Baahubali.
She is also well-known as a Gayathriveena (a single-string musical instrument) artist.
