Bairavaa A still from the movie

The Pongal season is here and Ilayathalapathy Vijay is all set with a special treat for his fans - his new movie Bairavaa.

The film has been simultaneously released in 55 countries on January 12. The film has also reportedly hit the silver screens of African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia, other than the usual important overseas destinations. Surprisingly, countries such as Mexico, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Russia where no Tamil movie has been released so far, will also see a release.

Reportedly, the first shows have already begun from 5.00 am and fans are celebrating the day. Meanwhile, movie buffs are surprised with the official theater list as 203 screens have been listed for Bairavaa.

Bairavaa seems to be a mass entertainer with all fun-filled elements. Sources from the industry suggest that a confident Vijay has watched Bairavaa with his team, and is pleased with the output. It is for the first time that Vijay will be seen opposite Keerthy Suresh and it will be interesting to see their on-screen chemistry.

Bairavaa is director Bharathan’s fourth film with Vijay. Earlier, in an interview, Bharathan said, ''Bairavaa would have everything that fans would expect in a Vijay film. There is a strong message in it. The punchlines, fights and typical Vijay mannerisms are abundant in the movie".

Plot: Bairavaa deals with the corrupt medical education system in India. The movie tries to expose how institutions fleece students and how that has affected the entire system. Jagapathi Babu plays a corrupt politician, the antagonist in the film.

The film has Santhosh Narayanan's music, M. Sukumar's cinematography and Praveen K.L.'s editing. Here we bring live updates from theater:

» Fans celebrations from early morning

» Terrific booking and long queue for FDFS

» BGM thundering in theatre

» Crowd erupts with Vijay's intro-scene.

» Interval

» Vijay goes back to his usual fare

» Nothing exciting about the script

The movie has opened to positive reviews for Vijay's mass performance. Check out the tweets:
