Awards and honors are nothing new to singer K.S. Chithra. Hence, it was no surprise when Padmasree Chithra won her 16th state award for best singer this year.
The 'Nightingale of South India' won the award for the song Nadavathil, penned by O.N.V Kurup and composed by M. Jayachandran.
However, Chithra was humility personified when Onmanorama caught up with her after the state awards were announced. She said it's everyone’s prayers and well wishes that help her achieve such a recognition.
On the occasion of Women's Day, Chithra in an exclusive video said, ''Women are the symbol of sacrifice and strength. It's through this that she achieves success.''
The last state award came her way in 2005 as for the song 'Mayangipoyi' from the film Nottam.
