Uday Samudra Resort makes world record for largest 'miscellaneous' pudding

Thiruvananthapuram: The chefs at Uday Samudra Resort in Kovalam have made a world record on the Valentine's day by making the largest 'miscellaneous desert pudding.' And no regular pudding at that! This pudding used crumbs from sandwich cookies and puddings in combination with other ingredients, to send a message against food waste.

The team made an elaborate global village with desert pudding which had a garden, a water body, parks, a power station, a stadium, mountains, cattle field, and houses, among other peculiarities.

The event attracted huge crowds from different walks of life with dignitaries like businessman E M Najeeb, Dr Rajasree Ajith, coast guard commandant George Baby, airport director CV Ravindran and more.

The visitors to the event was a vibrant and diverse group of differently-abled students, employees from hospitality and tourism sector, students from catering colleges were also present at the event.

The pudding weighed 1610 kg and measured 20 by 20 ft. The hotel wanted to convey a message to the hotel and restaurant industry: "if you can carefully plan and deliver the food production, you can transform our food system and help the needy and poor of the society."

The hotel say that certain foods like side of a bread are thrown away by most restaurants and it is important to make them aware of its uses and this was the best way to do it.

The chefs and staff of UDS hotels took a pledge to support 'Zero Hunger' and to transform the food systems to recreate and of course carefully plan and deliver food production.

A judging committee of the Universal Records Forum declared the certificates and the medal for the setting of record at the successful event.
