Perumbavoor: Eleven days after the murder of dalit law student Jisha in Perumbavoor, Kerala police on Monday took her sister Deepa in for questioning. But she was let off soon after.
Rejecting reports that police were looking for her friend, a migrant labourer, Deepa, who has been attending on her ailing mother in hospital, later said: "They (police) took me because I wanted to take a few clothes and my bank pass book. It was safe to go with the women police officers. I don't know why the media is speculating."
Police have been looking into Deepa's phone call list. There have been reports that she had made several phone calls, as was confirmed by her uncle who was also questioned by the police.
Over two dozen people have been questioned by the police till date. While the police have been claiming that they are all set to crack the murder mystery, so far no one has been arrested.
Police have been on the hunt for Deepa's friend, a migrant labourer known as 'Bhaya'.

The police have started a hunt for the migrant labourers who have gone missing after the incident. The police have also been searching for people who were convicted of similar crimes.

The special team probing the case conducted searches at camps of migrant labourers on Sunday also. The camps within 1-km radius of the crime spot are under strict observation.
The police have been collecting details of labourers who returned to their native places within the last 10 days. The Kerala police have sought help from their counterparts in other states for this.

The police have prepared a list of around 300 people who were convicted of similar crimes. Around 20 of them have been released from jail now. The probe team have decided to quiz them.
Jisha was found murdered on April 28 inside her single-room house at Perumbavoor.
