'Who will believe Saritha's claims?' Chandy rejects bribery charges

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has completely denied the bribery allegations raised against him by solar scam accused, Saritha S Nair.

"Even the cheque given by Saritha to the relief fund had bounced. How can she then give me crores of money? Will anyone believe all this?" he questioned.

"What has Saritha gained by giving me bribe," Chandy asked, adding that he has not done any undue favours for her.

Saritha on Wednesday deposed before the Justice Sivarajan Commission that she had paid bribe to Oommen Chandy's aide and also to Aryadan Mohammed's personal assistant.

She said that Oommen Chandy's former personal assistant Jikkumon had demanded that the graft money to the tune of Rs seven crore for the CM must be handed over in New Delhi.

Questioning the timing of her revelations, Chandy asked, "Why didn't Saritha inform the Commission about her charges earlier?"

"Kerala is not going to believe Saritha," he stated, adding that the people's belief in his government will not be swayed by the baseless charges made by her.

Saritha had also said that she had given Rs 40 lakh to the Power Minister's staff in two instances after Aryadan demanded a bribe of Rs 2 crore. First, she gave 25 lakh to Aryadan's PA, Keshavan, and then Rs 15 lakh to the office staff.

Aryadan also rejected the bribery charges raised by Saritha.
