The 450 sq ft holiday home which stands elegantly on an 8-cent plot has the beautiful and misty Thekkady as its backdrop. This cottage was built over the foundation of an old house which had stood on the plot earlier. The exteriors are in the shape of 2 cube - like structures and the brick tile cladding on the outer wall is a striking feature here. There are roads on both sides of the plot and the views of the house from the sides are different.
The house is built using solid blocks. There is a living space, dining area, bath attached bedroom and kitchen in this weekend getaway.
Vitrified tiles in wooden finish are paved on the floor. There are lots of windows which open to the beautiful vista of nature. The construction of the house, including the furnishing, was done in just Rs 6 lakhs.
These are the factors which helped reduce the cost of construction:
The house was built on a minimal scale by including facilities which are needed and avoiding unnecessary features.
MDF was used for furnishing. The doors are built in UPVC. Old materials were reused.
The construction of the house got over in just 4 months.
