Biju Paulose’s brand new house stands in a 9 cents plot on the banks of the Aluva Lake. This area was affected during the deadly deluge of 2018. However, the designers, having learned lessons from it, took enough precautions before building the structure here.
More than designing the structure, lots of homework was done before readying the plot. After analysing the flood level, the plot was raised almost 15 feet from the level of the lake. The foundation has been made stronger with piling.
This house dons unique looks on both sides. The front view from the road is different from the elegance of the riverside view in the back. GI truss roof has been installed above a part of the flat roof. Interestingly, the area between the truss roof and flat roof could be used as an attic space.
Designed in 3000 sqft, this fabulous abode has a car porch, sit out, foyer, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony too.
The spaces in the house have been designed in harmony with the river. The huge door in the back side opens to the mesmerizing views of the beautiful river. The enchanting beauty of the river could be enjoyed from the spacious and long balcony too.
The folding door here is 2.8 meters tall. So the views of the river could be enjoyed from inside the house. The folding door opens to a grass paved lawn which is used as the kids’ play area. This is also the family’s favourite spot to spend some relaxing moments in the evening.
The open interiors make the spaces look and feel incredibly spacious. The family living area and the dining space too are designed in an open theme. The paintings that adorn the interior walls are drawn by the kids in the family, adding a personal touch to the furnishings and décor.
Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The kids’ bedrooms are in the upper floor. These rooms have windows and doors that open to the views of the river. The bay windows are the highlights here. The bath attached bedrooms have separate study spaces too.
The modern kitchen is chic and efficient. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in laminate finish. The countertop has been paved with granite.
The family says that the impeccable ambiance of the house makes them feel as if they live in a luxury resort.
