This Koyilandi house impresses with geometrical patterns and luxurious interiors

Shabeer Ali is thrilled to show around his brand – new house that he has built at his hometown in Koyilandi, Kozhikode. It was a few years ago that the expatriate had purchased the 6 cents plot. He wanted to build his dream dwelling without burning a hole in his pocket as he had spent quite a hefty amount while purchasing the plot.

The small plot that didn’t have a definite shape was the biggest challenge. The plot was narrow at many significant spots. Shabeer says that many architects had tried to dissuade them from building a house here. Finally, architects Hijas and Aneer took up the challenge of designing at spectacular house at this plot.

The family believes in the positive effects of the laws of vastusastra. So, they were determined to design the entrance, vital spots and the measurements of the areas by strictly following the vastu rules. Necessary changes were made in the plan before the construction began.

The beautiful elevation is a blend of many geometric patterns. Such a unique design was chosen to allow maximum visibility for the house that stands on a small plot. A road runs adjacently to the structure. So, the house dons a unique look from this side. Laterite stones have been used to build the structure.

Built in 1950 sqft, this fabulous abode has living and dining areas, kitchen with work area and four bedrooms.

The entrance door opens to the elegantly furnished formal living area. The double height ceiling, meanwhile, makes the interiors look incredibly vaster. The custom made furniture pieces gels well with the general theme of the house. The luxurious elegance of teak wood is the highlight of the furnishing. Meanwhile, acacia timber has been used for the hand railings of the staircase. The Indian marble paved on the floor look classy.

The glass door in the dining area opens to the quaint patio. Grilles have been installed here to ensure additional safety.

The kitchen cabinets are made using Aluminium Composite Panels. An adjacent work area completes the modern kitchen.

There are two bedrooms each in both the floors. The cot with the in – built storage is a smart addition. The bath attached bedrooms have wardrobes too.

The construction got stalled for a while during the lockdown period. It was followed by a period that saw the prices of the building materials getting sky rocketed. Shabeer confesses that it had overshot the budget that was allotted for furnishing. Despite this, the construction of this amazing abode, including the construction and furnishing, was completed on an affordable budget of Rs 45 lakh.
