Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has declared a holiday for educational institutions in seven districts on Tuesday (August 2) in view of the incessant rain in the State.

The seven districts are Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Alappuzha, Kollam and Kottayam.

The holiday was declared by the respective District Collectors.

The IMD has declared a red alert in seven districts on Monday - Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki.

An orange alert was sounded in Thrissur and Malappuram, and a yellow alert in the remaining five.
