Thrissur: Adding weight to the charges that Jishnnu Pranoy, a student of Nehru College of Engineering here, was assaulted by the officials, it emerged that the blood stains found in a college official's room matched the blood group of the deceased.
The blood stains found in PRO Sanjith Viswanathan's room belongs to O Positive group.
The police will conduct detailed tests to confirm whether they were Jishnu's blood stains. For this, a DNA test will be conducted after collecting blood samples of Jishnu's parents.
Jishnu was found hanging in his hostel bathroom on January 6.
The police, in their preliminary report, had confirmed that Jishnu was assaulted in the rooms of the PRO and the vice-principal after he was accused of copying during examination.
The parents of the 18-year-old had recently met Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, seeking justice for their son.
Mahija, Jishnu's mother, said they had been assured of all help by the government. They alleged that the management of the Nehru Engineering college had destroyed evidence after the incident.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the death of Jishnu, had named Nehru Group of Institutions chairman P. Krishnadas as the first accused in the case. Nehru College vice-principal Sakthivel, assistant professor C.P. Praveen, PRO Sanjith and exam cell members Vipin and Vimal are the other accused.

Jishnu Pranoy
