Dileep

Aluva: The horrific end faced by Jisha inside her unsecured house near Perumbavoor shocked Dileep like everyone else in Kerala. The actor has launched a project to build 1,000 houses for poor families in Kerala at a cost of Rs55 crore.

“People living in conditions similar to Jisha’s will be given priority in the project,” Dileep said. The law student’s murder had put the spotlight on the plight of the homeless in the state.

People from anywhere in Kerala can apply for a house under the project. They should have 2 cents of land at least. Unemployed widows will also be given priority.

Each house is expected to cost Rs5.5 lakh. Voluntary organizations have also pitched in to the program, which will be implemented by GP Charitable Trust in Aluva and the Kerala Action Force.

Construction of six houses will start immediately as the first phase of the program. The first house is meant for the wife and two daughters of T K Suresh of Aluva, who was crushed under a tree that fell over his scooter.

If you wish to contribute to the initiative, you can send money to Indus Ind Bank’s Aluva branch. (IFSC No. INDB227, account No. 200010638611) For details, call 94471 87868, 94475 77823.
