Harippad: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday said that the decision of the Kerala Congress (M) to leave the UDF is totally contemptuous.

“It's barely two months after the party contested the assembly polls as a UDF ally. If the party had any differences, it could have expressed openly,” he said.

"What KC(M) did was something that is unheard of. Had the UDF been victorious in the assembly election, would they have left the front?” Chennithala asked. "They say that they would continue the tie-up in the local self-government bodies. This shows that they wouldn't have left the front if it were in power," Chennithala said.

He said that the UDF will move forward with determination. The decision of the Kerala Congress is undemocratic and they have deceived all those who believe in democracy, he said.

"There is no difference of opinion in Congress, and no one can create any," he added.

"It's not clear what made Kerala Congress take such a step. We wished Kerala Congress to continue in the UDF. The KC(M)'s decision, at a time when there was a need to strengthen the fight against the Leftist forces and Modi, is undemocratic.”

When he was asked if the issues related to the bar bribery case was the reason behind KC(M)'s departure from the UDF, Chennithala said that more details will be announced on Monday.
