Actress attack case: police quiz noted Malayalam actor Representational image

Kochi: The Kerala police team, probing the actress attack case, recorded the statement of a popular Malayalam actor on Tuesday morning.

He reportedly told the police that some people from the industry were trying to use the incident to settle scores.

He said on the fateful day, he was undergoing treatment and came to know of the incident only the next day. The actor also denied having any links with the main suspect Pulsar Suni or car driver Martin.

Meanwhile, police have taken one person into custody from a Kakkanad flat. Reports said that the flat belonged to a young actor-director in the Malayalam film industry. The police have refused to divulge more information on the detainee.

Where is Pulsar Suni?

Search operations have been intensified to nab the alleged mastermind 'Pulsar' Suni and his accomplice V.P. Vigeesh. Various police teams have been deployed in many parts of Kerala and also in Tamil Nadu to trace him.

Police, which is facing flak over delay in arresting the key accused, took one of Suni's accomplices Manikandan into custody from Palakkad Monday night.

Meanwhile, forensic experts have collected evidence from the car in which the actress was allegedly harassed by the gang members.

Police said so far three persons - Vadival Saleem, Pradeep and Martin - have been arrested in connection with the case. All three have been remanded in judicial custody by a magistrate court in Aluva.

The actress was harassed inside a car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle and later escaped in a busy area in Kochi.
