Thiruvananthapuram: The vigilance department on Wednesday claimed that it has secured enough evidence to register an FIR in the microfinance case. The department in its submission before the vigilance court, however, sought more time to collect evidence. The court has granted it three weeks' time for that.

Vigilance director Jacob Thomas has already accepted the demand for action in the microfinance case. It is likely that Sreenarayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan will be made an accused in the case.

The investigation led by vigilance range SP assumes that there was misappropriation in the financial deals involving Natesan.

It was CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanandan, during his tenure as opposition leader, who filed a complaint before the UDF government seeking a probe into the alleged irregularities in the microfinance transactions undertaken by Yogam.
