Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala bar hotels association working president Biju Ramesh on Monday said that it was a 'tainted' minister who had forced him to name Excise Minister K. Babu in the bar bribery case. "This angle should also be probed in the conspiracy case," he added.
"I will also reveal the details of investments made by ministers in north India. CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had in fact said that closed bars would be reopened if bribe allegations were proved," Biju Ramesh said.
He maintained that no plot was hatched in collusion with vigilance SP R. Sukesan and that he had only prompted the bar owners to speak out the truth. "I told Sukesan that I was ready to reveal the names of other ministers too. But he said that those names did not figure in the purview of his investigation and asked me to unravel them before the media if I wanted to do so," Biju Ramesh said.
The audio clip that is out now is an edited one, Biju said and challenged the government to release the unedited version.
“Cases are being fabricated against those who have raised corruption charges. How can a group of 300 people conspire against a government,” Biju Ramesh asked and added that he has all evidence in his possession which can be presented the moment he is arrested. He also said that those who were trying to threaten him were digging their own pit.
A leaked audio clip from a CD submitted by Biju Ramesh brought in the the open the alleged assurances given by the LDF to reopen all 418 bars closed in Kerala. The UDF government's new liquor policy had forced the closure of these bars.
