According to the police, the 18-year-old had committed suicide due to the mental trauma caused by a youth, who had been in a relationship with her.
Cronin Alexander Baby, a distant relative of the girl, was arrested by the police and was booked for abetment of suicide.
The youth, a Piravom native, was in a relationship with the girl for nearly 2 years, the police said. Their relationship was going through a rough patch and the youth, who worked in Chhattisgarh, had been continuously trying to contact Mishel before she went missing.
