Mohanlal. File photoKochi: Making his stand clear on the controversy over the campaign by LDF candidate K.B. Ganesh Kumar in the last assembly polls, Malayalam actor Mohanlal said that he joined the actor-politician in the campaign simply because he was invited.
Mohanlal said UDF candidate Jagadish, who is also a prominent actor, did not invite him for campaigning.
"Jagadish didn't invite me, so I didn't go. There is no rule that I should be attending his program only because I had attended campaign for one of his rival candidates from the film industry. It is my freedom. I am not into politics. Jagadish is not my brother but my brother's classmate," the actor said.

Sharing his views in Manorama News chat show, Nere Chovve, Mohanlal also rubbished the controversies over the alleged 'Thiruvananthapuram Nair lobby' existing in Malayalam film industry. “They are mere allegations and there is no such thing in reality,” he said.
A controversy had emerged after actor Mohanlal went to attend Ganesh Kumar's election campaign during the assembly polls in Pathanapuram.
Jagadish had publicly stated that he was disheartened by the incident as he regarded Mohanlal as his brother. He also alleged that Ganesh had blackmailed Mohanlal forcing him to participate in the campaign. Actor Bhiman Raghu was pitted against Ganesh and Jagadish as a BJP candidate. Ganesh Kumar had the seat, eventually.
