Innocent rejects Salim Kumar's claim, says no restriction in AMMA

Thrissur: AMMA president and Lok Sabha MP, Innocent, on Friday rejected Salim Kumar's claim that the fraternity members were barred from taking part in Kerala election campaigns.

"No restrictions were imposed by AMMA on election campaigning. The fraternity's all-time stance was that it would not interfere in the member's political allegiance," the veteran actor said.

"All are free to take part in political activities as per their interests," he remarked, adding that there was nothing wrong in Mohanlal taking part in Ganesh Kumar's rally.

Salim Kumar had resigned from AMMA citing that the Malayalam superstar's presence in the LDF campaign rally in Pathanapuram was in violation of the stand taken by the fraternity.

Innocent, however, refused to criticise Salim Kumar for resigning over the issue. "I thank him for all his contributions to AMMA as an executive member. He is free to return any time he feels like," Innocent added.
