Kozhikode: A Keralite polytechnic student studying at Namakkal in Tamil Nadu, has alleged that eight students, including him, were manhandled by the hostel warden recently, police said.
Shinto and his friends, all Keralites and aged around 20, are students of Excel polytechnic. They had attended an Auto Expo held on January 9 at their college premises and arrived late to the hostel following which they were allegedly beaten by the hostel warden, a senior police officer said.
Their mobile phones were also confiscated and they could not contact their parents.
The student then left the hostel for Kozhikode, their native place on January 10 evening, without informing college authorities, he said.
Shinto, who filed a complaint with Vellayil police here Thursday about the incidents, reportedly underwent treatment at a government hospital here for injuries.
However, inquiries with the college authorities revealed that the warden was allegedly attacked by the students on being questioned, he added.
"We will record his statement and if any cognizable offense arises, the complaint will be forwarded to the police at the place of occurrence for further action," he said.
