Freak accident: boy mimics 'Pulimurugan' scene in school, leaves class 4 girl blind In 'Pulimurugan', Mohanlal uses a spear to trap man-eating tigers.

Mararikulam, Alappuzha: A girl student lost vision in her right eye after her classmate’s attempt to imitate an action scene from a hit Malayalam movie went horribly wrong.

The victim, Roshna Mary, 9, a fourth standard student of Government High School, Pollethai, in Alappuzha district, has been admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital with serious injuries to one of her eyes.

The incident occurred when the boy, a Class X student, reportedly tried to mimic a scene from Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan, in which the movie's protagonist traps a tiger using a spear.

Imitating the hero, he threw an iron rod towards an imaginary tiger, but it accidentally went in the wrong direction and hit Roshna.

She received 22 stitches on her eyes. The rod pierced through the cornea and retina, and the scan report showed particles of rust trapped inside the eyes, doctors said.

Roshna is the daughter of John Dixon, a fisherman.

The financially-backward family is struggling to raise funds required for her treatment.

The following bank account has been opened for accepting contributions to meet the medical expenses: Account No. 33961176829, IFSC Code: SBIN-0008622.
