The Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP), floated in 2012 by T.P. Chandrasekharan, is extending its footprint nationally.

Christened the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), the new outfit has been formed by amalgamating leftist organizations in 10 states.

Mangat Ram Pasla, a former CPM central committee member, is the general secretary of the new organization.

Chandrasekharan had left the CPM in 2009 to form the RMP.

It found moderate success in the local polls shortly after its formation, which allegedly irked his former political friends leading to his brutal murder.

The murder was a hot topic of discussion, which put the CPM in the defense in subsequent polls.
