Thrissur: Amid raging debates and discussions in the wake of Paravur temple fireworks tragedy, this year's Thrissur Pooram has begun here.
Thousands of revellers are thronging the venue of the Pooram, which is known as the mother of all festivals in Kerala.
The festival began with the ritualistic procession carrying the idol of Lord Kanimangalam Sastha. Madathilvaravu panchavadyam by Annamanada Parameshwara Marar will begin by 11 am on Sunday. _Ilanjithara Melam _ will begin by 1.30 in the afternoon.
The colourful ritual called Kudamattom will be held at 5 pm. The district administration and police force have arranged fool-proof safety measures as part of the Pooram in which nearly 100 elephants and 700 artistes participate.
