Thiruvananthapuram: The indefinite strike proposed by Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) slated to begin on Tuesday, has been called off.

Association president T. Nazeeruddin made it clear on Monday, that no decision will be taken that would cause trouble to the people.

The traders association had on Saturday said that it would close all shops indefinitely starting from Tuesday in protest against the currency crunch following the demonetization policy imposed by the Narendra Modi-led union government.

The strike was called off after intervention by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, who assured the traders that they will not be harassed in connection with the currency crisis.
