V. P. AshaKazhakoottam: The body of a 33-year-old woman was recovered by the Kearla police from the terrace of a ladies’ hostel situated adjacent to the Technopark campus, here, on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as V. P. Asha, daughter of Puthanparambil Prabhakaran of Koodal, near Injappara in Pathanamthitta district. She was working as a business development executive at a private firm in Kazhakoottam town.
The police said it was suspected to be a case of suicide.
The body, which is suspected to be at least two days old, was first noticed by her neighbors on Sunday morning when they went into their terrace to dry clothes. After being alerted by them, the family which runs the hostel called the Kazhakoottam police immediately.
A police team inspected the spot and discovered empty tube and syringe vials of insulin and a suicide note from near the body. A high dose of insulin is suspected to be the cause of death.
Her roommates did not suspect anything amiss as she had told them that she would go home on Friday evening, the police said.
The body has been kept at the Medical College Hospital mortuary.
