Ballia (Uttar Pradesh): A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging after being scolded by her mother in Shivpur village here, police said on Wednesday.
The girl on Tuesday hanged herself from ceiling in her house after her mother scolded her for roaming around, in Sukhpura police station area, they said.
The body has been sent for postmortem, SP Anis Ansari said.
