Kozhikode: The Nagjee international club tournament, which is being resuscitated after a 21-year-long hiatus, will kick off here on Friday.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Brazilian legend Ronaldinho on January 25.
Eight foreign teams are in the fray. The teams have been divided into two groups of four teams, with the top two from each group qualifying for the semifinals.
Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense's Under-23 team takes on England's Watford FC (U-23) in the inaugural match.
The semifinals will be held on February 18 and 19, while the final is slated for February 21.
Group A: Atletico Paranaense U-23 from Brazil, Watford FC (U-23) from England, Rapid Bucharest FC from Romania and FC Volyn Lutsk from Ukraine.
Group B: Argentina (U-23), TSV 1860 Munchen (U-23) from Germany, Shamrock Rovers FC from Ireland and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine).
