Despite the Goods and Services Tax (GST) being applicable since 2017, Kerala has been continuing with entertainment tax, forcing theatres to remit both the taxes.
The notices have asked distributors, who have been paying 12 per cent GST from 2017 to pay 18 per cent.
The porotta lovers who were irked by this decision soon turned to social media to express their anger and disappointment. Hashtags like #handsoffporotta began trending on Twitter.
