The trial was complete and the case was adjourned for the verdict on March 18, 2022. The Lokayuktha says the verdict is delayed as the bill that curtails the powers of the Lokayuktha is still pending with the Governor.
The Lokayukta had initiated an inquiry into the allegation that former Health Minister KK Shailaja was complicit in the corruption involved in the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits.
The Governor, who would go to Attappady on Sunday, will be taking part in different events across the State and will be back in Thiruvananthapuram only on September 17.
The Opposition was especially critical of the new changes that were introduced when the Bill was under the consideration of the Assembly Subject Committee.
The opposition leader has said that his UDF would oppose both the bills.
Several ordinances, including the Kerala Lokayukta (Amendment) Ordinance, issued by the LDF government lapsed on August 8 as Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had not signed them.
The CPI ministers told the Cabinet that they were disinclined to pass the Bill in its proposed form.
The CPI's proposal is to replace the provision contained in the Section 14 of the lapsed ordinance that authorised the State Government to review the Lok Ayukta verdict with a new provision.
The Governor had said he was not going to approve their repromulgation without going through the ordinances.
In a significant move, the ministers belonging to the Communist Party of India (CPI) opposed the provisions of the ordinance during the Cabinet meet on Wednesday.
