hexa-fastrack Hexa

There is a big difference between Tata Aria and Hexa and Hexa is not a new version of the super premium crossover from the Tata stables.

It is in fact a new vehicle that uses the platform and components of Aria. More precisely, it is a vehicle that has incorporated what Tata has learnt for five years after the launch of Aria. The car is to hit the markets in one month. Here are some findings about Hexa from social media as well as from Tata.

Hexa was unveiled this year at the New Delhi Auto Expo. Booking is to start from November and cost would be more than a million rupees.

The new Hexa has borrowed a lot of body parts and components from Aria. The platform also remains the same while cosmetic changes such as claddings and other things have been changed.

However, there are significant changes with respect to engine and gearbox. While there were talks that the vehicle would come with the heart borrowed from Safari Storme, the grapevine is that the car would have a new engine.

Another welcome change is that the car borrows a lot from Land Rover, which is not under Tata's control. That aspect takes quality and design years ahead and styling and quality shows the change, for the better.

The new claddings give Hexa a different appearance than the Aria. One big change is that the big car would no more resemble small cars from the Tata stables as Aria did. The face is much sterner and the visage does not resemble smaller siblings.

Fit and finish is at par with global standards and the interiors resemble that of the Land Rover’s. The soft-touch door trim and dash board resembles leather. The front and back rows get enough and more leg and head room while the third row gets them in adequate measures. All the seats get AC vents.

Automatic AC, 2 DIN stereo, in-dash navigation, GPS, reverse cameras, rain sensors for the wiper, light-sensing headlamps, on-board computer display, approach lights, chilled glove box and adaptive cruise controls are some of the bells and whistles the car offers.

The expected 154 BHP, four-cylinder engine is newer than the Dicor series. The new Varicor 400 engine can whip up 400nm of torque and NHV levels are significantly controlled. There is no petrol model in all the five versions.

The car comes with two four-wheel drive models. The six-speed manual and six-speed advanced automatic do duty to lunge the car forward.

All models have air bags and ABS. Higher models have ESP and six air bags. In addition, there are other security features such as electronic brake distribution, dynamic control, roll-over mitigation, brake assist, traction control, hill descent control, hill hold and so on. There are also three drive modes.
