Mahindra MojoThe history of Mahindra and Mahindra is inextricably intertwined with the history of Indian automotive industry, especially that of the iconic Jeep brand.
Established by brothers Jagdish Chandra Mahindra and Kailash Chandra Mahindra a couple of years before Independence, the objective of the company was to import and sell post-war Willys Jeeps for civilian use on India's rural and rugged back-roads.
New name
The origins of Mahindra Group can be traced back to October 2, 1945 when Mahindra brothers joined hands with Lahore-based businessman Malik Ghulam Mohammed and launched Mahindra & Mohammed as a steel company in Mumbai. The name was changed to Mahindra & Mahindra in 1948 after Mohammed migrated to Pakistan post-partition and became the country's first finance minister.
The Jeep brand
Within two months after Independence, the first batch of seventy-five Willys Jeeps arrived at the Port of Mumbai (Bombay) from America. Initially, the franchise’s operations were restricted to assembling the components and fixing the ‘Sold and Serviced by M&M’ label on the imported vehicles.

Mahindra has come a long way since the days of Hurricane Jeep, extending its reach beyond tractors and trucks and creating a unique position in the market. Now, the company is set to accelerate into the 21st century by adding a revolutionary product to its enviable lineup: a premium bike brand.
The Mahindra Mojo will mark the entry of the company, which has been at the two-wheeler game for several years, into the premium motorcycle category. With this 300 cc bike with premium offerings, Mahindra will be looking to boost the its brand's image and attract customers in the niche two-wheeler segment.
Stunning looks
Mojo looks gorgeous from every visual angle. Twin-barrel headlamps with LED pilot lights adds to the vehicle’s aesthetic value. The instrument cluster is equipped with an analogue speedometer and digital console which comprises a fuel gauge, two trip meters, odometer, and a maximum speed recorder.
Ideal for long rides
Mojo’s plush seats are comfortable for long rides and the uniqueness of the seating arrangement can be gauged from every angle. The huge tank, extended silver-finished side fenders flaunting forks in dual color tone, and the stylish exhaust pipes add to the bike’s overall sportiness.
Golden finish
The USD front fork sports charming looks, thanks to its golden finish. The other eye grabbers are the sporty fender, large muscular fuel tank, smooth and elegant seats, well-integrated LED tail lamp and rear fender, and the large twin silencers.
Power-packed performance
The Mahindra Mojo is powered by a single cylinder, 4 valve 295cc engine. The liquid-cooled engine generates a maximum power output of 27 PS at 8000 rpm and 30 Nm torque at 5500 RPM. It may appear like a small bike, but has a slightly taller seat height of 814mm. The vehicle has a dry weight of 165 kg. The well-cushioned seat offers optimal support to the back. The ergonomic sync between footpegs, handlebar and seat height makes it an ideal choice for long rides.
Pleasant beats
Mojo’s twin silencer produces remarkably pleasant sound. The acceleration is pretty brisk with a strong mid-range grunt. The bike is rock stable in a straight line as well as while negotiating long sweeping curves. The noise is stable, and the vibrations are well in check even while hitting a speed of 100kmph.
Sports tourer
The Mahindra Mojo offer the qualities of a sport bike as well as a tourer. The suspension, which is solid and tuned to perfection for highway cruising, offers riders maximum flexibility for long endurance rides. The front upside-down forks and the gas-filled mono shock at the back add to the overall comfort. The Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres offer better grip and control even on wet surfaces. It has a single petal disc brake upfront and a regular disc brake in the rear. Though Mojo does not feature ABS (anti-lock braking system), the disc brakes are highly responsive and lock up very easily.
