Tata HexaAfter tightening its grip in the small-car segment with Tiago, home-grown carmaker Tata Motors is looking to get a foothold in the crossover segment by pushing the all-new Hexa as its flagship product. Based on the Tata Aria, Hexa is spacious, smart and, more importantly, competitively priced.

Novel features
Hexa sports a luxurious and aesthetically pleasing look. Well-designed grilles, bright LED daytime running lights, and lavish chrome inserts lend the vehicle an upmarket feel. The vehicle flaunts a sporty and rugged look, thanks to the stylish front, rear and side cladding.
Crossover
Based on sedan platform but styled as SUV, Hexa does not have a tough competitor in the crossover segment in the domestic market. The vehicle has a simple and unfussy design, but the large wheel arches and muscular bodylines enhance the Hexa’s SUV appeal. The top-end variants feature 19-inch alloy wheels.
Premium feel
The spacious and comfortable interiors are identical to those found in Land Rovers. The quality is top notch and truly international. The soft-touch door trim and dash board with leather finish add an elegant look to the interior. Hexa offers three rows of roomy seating. Legroom in the first and second rows is abundant. There is ample leg room in the third row as well. All three rows have air-conditioning vents.
High-end features
The manufacturer could progressively improve the vehicle’s efficiency and the aesthetic values by incorporating premium features such as automatic AC, 2 DIN music system, in-dash navigation system, GPS, reverse camera, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamp, on-board computer display, cooled glove compartment, adaptive cruise control, infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, 10-speaker premium JBL system and much more.

Power-packed performance
The crossover is being offered with two engine options - a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder Varicor 320 diesel and a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel. The Varicor 320, which comes only with the five-speed manual transmission, produces 150 PS at 4000 rpm and 320 Nm torque at 1700-2700 rpm.
High-torque engine
The Varicor 400 automatic/manual engine churns out a maximum power output of 156 PS and 400 Nm torque at 1700-2700 rpm. This variant comes with four drive modes.
Top-notch handling
Though Hexa is full-size crossover, it can be handled like sedans. Compared to Aria, it is more SUV’ish. The four driving modes offered are Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
Safety aspects
Tata has packed in a whole bunch of safety features in Hexa. All variants get airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS). Top-end models come equipped with EASP, six airbags, electronic Brake-force Distribution system, dynamic control, ESP with roll over mitigation, brake assist, traction control, hill descent control, hill hold control etc.
