The Computer Science Department of the L.B.S. College of Engineering, Kasaragod, won the overall championship of the Arts Festival held by the students' union. This was for the third consecutive year the computer science students emerged winners.

The Civil Engineering Department became the runners-up after coming closely behind the CS Department in the points tally.

The event named Dijili saw maximum participation from students of all the engineering branches. A slew of events was conducted as part of the fest held on March 18 and 19 on five stages across the campus. The events started with the inaugural ceremony in which union chairman Nandakumar delivered the introductory speech. The ceremony commenced with Dr. Khader Mangad, former Kannur University Vice Chancellor, lighting the diya and thereby inaugurating the arts fest.

Off-stage items were held in the past week during college hours. This meant that the students were already awaiting results while preparing for their on-stage items. The events were delayed a bit from the schedule as the stages were prepped. But once the programmes started, various colours adorned the campus as participants for all events, including traditional dances like Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, as well as Vattappattu and Duffmuttu, proceeded to their respective venues.

Departments were split into teams, making it a tight competition between 5 teams, each trying their best to impress. Results were live on Dijili.in , the website for the event.

As always, the best was kept for las; audience’s favourite events – Mime, Synchronization Dance and Fashion Walk - were some of the final competitions. Amidst enormous cheering from the audience, the dance teams made the crowd hold their breath as they performed with perfect synchronization. Fashion Walk was another highlight of the night, as teams from each department walked the ramp with embellished clothing.

The events wrapped up around 10 pm with the prize distribution ceremony. SSE-IT teams were awarded the overall championship trophy and Civil Department received the runners-up cup. Individual champions were also rewarded.

The College Union, Coordinators, and Fine Arts Secretary Althaf Hassan were behind the organisation of the fest which brought out the best in all the students. As the lively event concluded, students seem to be apprehensive of going back to the dreary rhythm of endless classes.
