Apply for Indian Economic Service exam by Sept 1

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued notification for the Indian Economic Service (IES) 2020 exam. 

Online applications can be submitted till September 1. The candidates will also have the option to withdraw the applications from September 8 to 14. There are approximately 15 vacancies for the service. 

Eligibility: Post-graduate in economics/applied economics/business economics/econometrics. Those appearing for the final-year exams can also apply.

Age: Between 21-30 as on August 1, 2020. A five-year relaxation will be given for SC/ST candidates and three years for the OBC.

Exam centres: The exams will be held from October 16 at the various centres in the country. The exam centre in Kerala is at Thiruvananthapuram. Chennai and Bengaluru will also have exam centres.

Selection: The selection process comprises two phases. The first phase is a written test of 1000 marks. Next is the 200 marks. The detailed exam syllabus is available on the website.

Application fee: Rs 200. The fee payment can be made via SBI Net banking or Visa/Master/RuPay/credit/debit cards. The fee can be directly remitted at any SBI branch. No application fee for women, SC/ST candidates and differently-abled. The fee can be remitted directly till August 31 and via online till September 1.
