Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has begun the option registration for admission to engineering, architecture and pharmacy under-graduate courses even before the publication of the rank list.

As per the schedule, the first allotment will be held on October 11.

This is for the first time since the commencement of the entrance examinations in Kerala that option registration commenced even before the release of rank lists.

The allotment process began on Monday itself though the notification for the same came only on Tuesday. The students were not informed of the allotment process on Monday.

The authorities clarified that the delay in publication of the rank list was due to the opportunity given to the students for uploading the CBSE improvement marks. They claimed that the rank list would be published in two days.

How to apply now
But, the students are in a piquant situation as they have to apply online for various disciplines without knowing the ranks. Usually, a trial allotment is conducted for the convenience of the students to get familiarised with the nature of allotment and chances of getting admission to various courses. This time, trial allotment is scrapped due to time constraints.

Official excuse
The authorities, however, justified the changes saying that they were hurrying up the process as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) gave a diktat that the admission process must be closed before October 25.

Students are allowed to submit their option online via 'www.cee.kerala.gov.in' till 4 pm on October 9. Students who get allotment on October 11 will have to pay their fees between October 12 to October 16 till 3 pm. The allotment of those who fail to pay the fees within the required time will be cancelled.

Those who do not give options will not be considered for allotment. More details are available on the website of the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations.
