The first stage of the preliminary examination for candidates applying for various 10th class posts is relatively easier. There are also more chances of cut-off marks going to get higher at this stage.

If you take last year’s exam evaluation, it is clear that they have copied some of the portions in SCERT textbooks as questions.

There were at least 8 questions from the 8th chapter of the 10th std social science textbook, 'Kerala on a path towards Modernity'. Similarly, there were at least 4 or 5 questions from other chapters in the syllabus. Therefore the participants must keep that in mind when they prepare for the last round of the exams.

Those who studied chapters 7 and 8 in science and chapters 4 and 5 in History scored well. When it comes to GK, 70 out of the 80 questions were easy.

Even in Mathematics, it was only in the Mental ability portion that they had to encounter slightly tougher questions. Those who expected 15 marks had to be satisfied with 10 marks.

When there were two questions related to the National song, the answers were also contained in those questions. Who won the JC Daniel award in 2021 might not be there because so far they have only given awards for the year 2020. Though the option given for Kochi Rajya Praja Mandal’s first president is VR Krishnanezhuthachan, Neelakandan Iyer is the right answer. Even this question might not be there.

There were many tough and confusing questions as well. To the question as to how to measure the mercury degree of a thermometer, many gave ‘heat’ as the answer while the correct entry is ‘temperature.’ You should at least take 2 seconds to come up with an answer. They haven’t asked many in-depth questions about current affairs.

Since the first stage of exams was easier, don’t get unduly worried about your next stage exams turning tougher. Prepare for the next stage by going through the textbooks thoroughly. Revise the exam tables and special notes once more.

Each department will have different cut-off marks. Hopefully, the cut-off marks will be less for those applying to the physical fitness examination.
