KEAM 2023: Applications open till April 10; note these important points

Applications can be submitted online for Kerala Engineering, Architecture, B.Pharm, Medical, Agriculture, and Allied Courses and the graduate courses at Kerala Agriculture University until 5 pm on April 10 on the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in.

Documents proving nativity and date of birth and SSLC certificate, a photo taken in the past six months, and the signature of the candidate should be submitted along with the application. The other documents proving eligibility should be submitted by April 20. The Engineering entrance test result will be published by June 20.

Details regarding the tuition fee and self-financing seat allocation and other aspects will be informed before allotment.

Test schedule

The Entrance first paper (Physics and Chemistry) will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm on May 17 while the second paper (Mathematics) will be held from 2:30 pm to 5 pm on the same day.

College, seat, course

The prospectus has listed seats (course-wise) for various courses in the government, aided, cost-sharing, and autonomous institutions.

• Government seats: The seats allotted by the Entrance Commissioner cover all the government/aided colleges. The details related to government/private institutions will be informed later.

• Management seats: Those seats in which the management of aided colleges conducts selection directly. The exact seats available in total can be known at the time of submitting options for allotment.

Total number of colleges

The total number of colleges, including the government/aided/cost-sharing/private institutions are: B Tech/B Arch 172; MBBS 31; BDAS 25; Ayurveda 17; Homoeo 5; Siddha 1; Unani 1; and Pharmacy 55. The agricultural, fisheries, and veterinary institutions are in addition to this.

Important points

• Those applying for sports quota should send the acknowledgment page of the online application and relevant documents to the Sports Council.

• Those applying for the NCC quota should submit the acknowledgment page of the online application and relevant documents to the unit officer. They will be sent to the NCC Directorate.

• The Entrance Commissioner will be allotting the NRI seats in private/self-financing medical/dental colleges and the minority quota seats in private/self-financing medical/dental colleges having minority status. Candidates should upload the documents mentioned on the site along with the application.

• Those desirous of the special reservation should also appear for the Entrance Examination.

• The Scheduled Tribe students should obtain the caste certificate from the Tahsildar.

• Prepare for the exam after checking the syllabus of the exam in the prospectus.

• The mobile number and email id provided on the website should either be of the candidate or the parents.

• Though there are a lot of seats for engineering, a candidate needs to secure higher ranks to get the desired course and college.

• Put in the best to secure the best marks in Plus Two and Entrance.

• Those didn't study Maths should have passed the Plus Two with elective subjects Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. They can apply for admission for the B Tech Biotechnology course offered by the Vellayani Agricultural College. Maths is not compulsory. However, Maths is mandatory for all other B Tech programmes.

PIO/OCI

Normally, only Indian citizens are eligible for admission. Those belonging to the Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens categories will be considered only for the NRI or Supernumerary seats during admission. They are not eligible for any reservation.

Relaxation in marks

For engineering courses, the candidates belonging to Schedules Caste/Tribe, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Differently Abled categories are eligible for 5% mark relaxation. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories should have obtained at least 40% marks in the specified three subjects for MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homeo, Siddha, and Unani courses. For those belonging to the Differently Abled category, the same is 45%.

For the courses of Agricultural University, the students of OBC and Differently Abled categories require only five percent fewer marks. Those belonging to SC/ST categories only need to pass the exam. For veterinary courses, the candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, and Differently Abled categories need only 47.5% marks.

Application

Only a single application needs to be submitted even if the candidate is applying to more than one course. The photocopy of the application or documents should not be sent to the Entrance Commissioner's office.

• Application fee: Rs 700 for individual or combined course of Engineering & B.Pharm; Rs 500 for individual or combined course of Architecture, Medical & Allied. The application for all the courses together is Rs 900. For the SC candidates, the same will be Rs 300, Rs 200, and Rs 400 respectively.

• ST candidates need not pay the application fee. Those appearing for the exam in Dubai have to pay Rs 12, 000 additional fee which should be remitted online.

• The application fee can be paid via two modes: 1) by credit/debit card or net banking and 2) the e-challan received at the time of submission of the online application can be remitted at the specific post offices in Kerala by paying the required money there.
