National award winner Samuthirakani is all set to direct his first Malayalam movie Akasha Mittayi, which will be a remake of his Tamil 2016 movie Appa.
The film will have Jayaram and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead roles and the shooting began on Saturday at Edassery.
Child actors Yuvalakshmi and Nandhana will be seen along with prominent actors from Malayalam.
Samuthirakani debuted in Malayalam as an actor in the 2010 Mohanlal starrer Shikkar. Oppam (2016), directed by Priyadarshan, was his last release in Malayalam. Naadodigal (2009), Poraali (2011), and Nimirdhu Nil (2014) are some of the many critically acclaimed movies he made in Tamil.
