She is the daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth and wife of current sensation Dhanush. But Aishwaryaa R. Dhanush was the trending topic on social media platforms over the weekend and it was not courtesy her proud lineage.
Instead it was the Kollywood director's dance performance at the UN headquarters on International Women's Day that got the attention of the netizens and all for the wrong reasons. She was flayed for her Bharatnatyam performance, with many criticizing her 'improper footwork' and 'lack of grace'.
An event meant to celebrate womanhood and underscore the message of gender equality, however, ended up becoming the butt of numerous jokes and memes online.

Aishwaryaa, who is a UN women's advocate for gender equality and women's empowerment in India, performed at the special Women's Day event organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN.
