Kochi: The police are checking the antecedents of workers in the cinema industry in the aftermath of the abduction and harassment of an actor on Friday night. Drivers will be the first category of workers who will be checked for any criminal background.

The police have given out clear instructions to the production houses not to engage for work persons with criminal background. The production controllers of the project the actor was working on erred big time in dropping her home late in the night with only an unknown driver for company. The police suspect that the driver, Martin, was an accomplice in the crime.

The Intelligence wing has reported that movie shooting locations were dens of narcotic abuse. The shadow police are already on the job of monitoring the sets. The main accused in the case, Sunil Kumar, used to organize rave parties, the police said.

Relatives of the victim have told the police that they suspect the involvement of another actor in the attack but the investigating team has not come across any proof to link her to the crime. The police are keeping a close watch over everyone named by the victim and her relatives. They will be interrogated if the police find anything linking them to the crime.

The police are scanning Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts for the suspects. Unconfirmed reports said two more persons were taken into custody on Monday night.
