'Ennu Ninte Moideen' scoop Cera-Vanitha film awards Parvathy and Prithviraj in 'Ennu Ninte Moideen'

Prithviraj’s brilliant performance as the central character in Ennu Ninte Moideen has won him the Cera-Vanitha Award 2016 for best actor. Parvathy was adjudged the best actress for her soulful portrayal of the real-life character Kanchanamala in the same movie and her restrained performance in Charlie.

Nivin Pauly, who won the heart of Malayali moviegoers as George in director Alphonse Putharen's blockbuster Premam, will receive the ‘Popular Actor’ award.

Namitha Pramod bagged the popular actress award for her roles in super-hit movies Amar Akbar Anthony and Adi Kapyare Kootamani.

Debutant R.S. Vimal won the best director award for Ennu Ninte Moideen, while Dileep and Mamta, who played the leading roles in Two Countries, were declared the best star pair.

Veteran KPAC Lalitha will be honoured with the lifetime achievement award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Malayalam cinema during a career spanning over five decades.

The award for the best film has also gone to Ennu Ninte Moideen, produced by Suresh Raj, Binoy Shankarath and Ragy Thomas. Premam, produced by Anwar Rasheed, is the most popular film.

The winners are selected on the basis of nominations from the viewers and popular vote. More than 1.5 lakh viewers took part in the selection process by submitting the coupons published in Vanitha and Malayala Manorama as well as casting their vote online via Facebook and Manorama Online.

There were as many as 25 honours in various categories up for grabs in the 13th edition of the Vanitha movie awards.

The award night, to be held at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on February 21, will be attended by the top actors of the Bollywood, Tamil and Malayalam film industries. The star-studded programme would feature dance and song programmes by the top artistes in the country. Entry will be by passes only.

Cera is the official sponsor of the event, while the ‘powered-by’ sponsor is Josco Jewellers. Federal Bank is the banking partner, Mahalakshmi Silks is the costume partner, and Brahmins Group is the Go-Green partner.

The co-sponsors are Chandrika, Enchanteur, MRF Vapocure Paints, Meriiboy, Double Horse, Chicking, Crisil, Dazzler, Gulf Gate, Repose, Indroyal, Enstyle, Blossom Inners, Reliance Trends, Happy, and In-Shape.
