In memory of late actor Kalabhavan Mani, the Kalabhavan Mani Seva Samithi, a charitable society, had installed a kedavilakku (memorial lamp that burns forever) at Maamath in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram.
On Monday, the society members alleged that the Kerala Police has destroyed it following an order from the District Collector.
According to reports, the Collector had ordered to remove the memorial lamp as it was kept in an accident-prone area. The members were planning to shift their office to a different place and had also requested the authorities to give them 10 days time to move the memorial lamp. However, without giving enough time for the shifting of the lamp, the police destroyed the installment altogether, said the society members.
Reportedly, the Kalabhavan Mani Seva Samithi officials have decided to protest against the police.
The photos of the incident have been doing rounds on social media.
